With collaborators at Siemens AG and UC Santa Barbara we found that as-printed Alnico alloys possess the spinodal nanostructure that gives rise to Alnico's magnetic properties. The as-printed alloy peforms similarly to conventionally sintered Alnico, opening up pathways to design magnets with complex geometries inaccessible through conventional fabrication techniques.
